A useful fit for

An earlier sealed-tip design for comparing a canal-sealing fit with app-controlled Ambient Sound, a Qi-capable case, and a notably long manufacturer-published general music maximum. Tip shape, comfort, and a personal seal still need an individual fit check; this model does not have ANC.

The main tradeoff

Galaxy Buds+ is an earlier 2020 model and should not be treated as currently stocked or as a guarantee of any old battery's health. Samsung explicitly says it has no active noise cancellation; its up-to-11-hour music claim is not an ANC runtime and the 22-hour case total represents recharge use, not one continuous session. Samsung's table names IPX2 without assigning it to buds or case, and the case rating is unknown. Verify the exact U.S. SKU, Qi case, actual contents, seller condition, app/host support, return terms, and warranty.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Are Galaxy Buds+ sealed in-ear or open-ear earbuds?

The SM-R175 is a sealed-tip in-ear design: Samsung lists replaceable small, medium, and large eartips and the manual explains fitting an earbud tip in the canal, with a wing tip to stabilize it. This describes the design, not whether a particular person will get a comfortable seal.

Does Ambient Sound mean Galaxy Buds+ has ANC?

No. Samsung's U.S. support page explicitly says active noise cancellation is unavailable on Galaxy Buds+. Ambient Sound uses the microphones to let outside sound in; it is not ANC, an open-ear fit, or a promise that every warning will be heard.

Explore this need in the finder →
Can the Galaxy Buds+ case charge on a Qi pad?

Yes. Samsung's U.S. launch specification calls wireless charging capable, and the SM-R175 manual describes a built-in wireless charging coil. The compatible pad is not established as included; the wired charging head is sold separately.

Does the eleven-hour music maximum meet an ANC-runtime minimum?

No. Samsung's up-to-eleven-hour figure is general music playback, while the U.S. support page says Galaxy Buds+ has no ANC. The published number therefore cannot satisfy any requested ANC-on minimum and must not be borrowed from an ANC-free plan.

Which exact earlier-inclusive finder choices show the Buds+ case arrangement?

The fixed scenario is earlier generation, sealed in-ear fit, no ANC and a wireless-charging case. Galaxy Buds+ has a Qi-capable case, but the result is a documented feature comparison rather than a promise about a seller's case, battery, app support or your fit.

Research-based assessment: Samsung's U.S. Galaxy Buds+ SM-R175 is an earlier sealed-tip true-wireless model with app-controlled Ambient Sound, a Qi-capable charging case and no active noise cancellation. Samsung's 2020 U.S. announcement gives it an up-to-eleven-hour general music maximum per earbud charge, but that is not an ANC runtime or a promise about an older battery. This is a source-based review: no listening, fit, microphone, signal or battery test was performed.

Sealed tips with a separate stabilizing wing

The SM-R175 uses replaceable eartips and a small wingtip that rests against the outer ear. Samsung's U.S. support listing names S, M and L sizes for both pieces, and its manual illustrates fitting the tip in the canal and positioning the wing. That describes the hardware, not the result in an individual ear: neither a comfortable seal nor stable retention can be predicted from a size chart or product picture. Try the actual tips and check the seller's return terms if fit matters to your routine.

The design is not the bean-shaped, tip-less Galaxy Buds Live. If you are comparing the two 2020 Samsung families, the separately assessed Buds Live uses an open-type body and Samsung lists ANC for it; the Buds+ seals with an ear tip and does not have ANC. Those are materially different wearing and sound-control arrangements.

Ambient Sound is not noise cancellation

Samsung's marketing describes outside sound being adjusted through Ambient Sound, with low, medium, high and extra-high levels. Its current U.S. support material is more explicit about the distinction: active noise cancellation is unavailable on Galaxy Buds+. Ambient Sound uses the microphones to pass environmental sound into the listening experience; it does not make this a truly open-ear fit or cancel outside noise. Samsung also notes that a poorly placed eartip or microphone contact can produce howling or whistling, so the setup and fit matter.

The mode needs an app. Samsung lists Galaxy Wearable on Android and its Buds app on iPhone 7 or later running iOS 10 or later for Buds+ Ambient Sound. The U.S. support specification separately lists Android 5.0 or later with at least 1.5GB of RAM and the same iPhone/iOS thresholds for basic phone compatibility. Feature availability may differ by host and software. Do not treat an app compatibility threshold as a guarantee for every current phone, tablet, computer or operating-system revision.

Three microphones and two-way speakers, without a listening test

Samsung describes a two-way woofer-and-tweeter speaker arrangement and three microphones, one inside and two outside. The launch article attributes beamforming and background-noise reduction to its call system. Those details explain the intended design, not a measured call result in a noisy street or a prediction that every voice will sound clear. There was no independent audio or call test for this assessment.

The U.S. specification lists SBC, AAC and Samsung's Scalable codec over Bluetooth 5. It does not make the Scalable codec a generic promise for every host; verify the phone, app and software if you rely on that route. Samsung lists Android and iOS compatibility, but an iPhone should not be assumed to expose all Galaxy Wearable features. Codec support describes an available connection mode, not the sound quality you will get from a particular file, application or source device.

Eleven hours is a general music maximum

Samsung lists 85mAh for the earbuds and 270mAh for the case. Its U.S. launch table says up to eleven hours of music on the earbuds and up to twenty-two hours total with the case. The footnote describes the case as providing up to another eleven hours while the earbuds are stored and recharged between uses, and says battery life varies. The total therefore means listening plus case recharges, not a single uninterrupted twenty-two-hour session.

That number should not be entered as a cancellation-mode runtime: there is no ANC mode on the Buds+. If your routine requires an ANC-on minimum, this model cannot meet it. Nor does a 2020 manufacturer maximum tell you how long a second-hand battery will last now. Battery age, storage, volume, host, firmware and use may matter; ask about the actual pair's condition and verify the return window rather than relying on the original figure.

Samsung advertises up to an hour of playback from three minutes of charging. That is also a manufacturer claim, not a quick-charge test here. The case supports wireless charging and its SM-R175 manual shows a built-in wireless coil and a USB Type-C charging port. Samsung's U.S. material describes Qi-compatible charging and Wireless PowerShare from compatible phones. The wall charging adapter is sold separately, and the sources do not establish that a Qi pad is in an offer's box.

Water, pairing and the seller's box

Samsung's U.S. table calls the product splash resistant and lists IPX2, but it does not identify whether that label applies to the earbuds, the case or both. The SM-R175 manual says to avoid getting the device wet and not to wear it while showering or swimming. I therefore do not upgrade IPX2 to earbuds-only IPX4, assign a water rating to the case, or recommend the Buds+ for exposure to water.

The manual instructs users to disconnect one mobile device before connecting another. Samsung separately describes automatic availability across other devices tied to the same Samsung account after setup on a Galaxy smartphone. That convenience is not evidence of two simultaneous Bluetooth audio connections, so it should not be confused with standard Multipoint. If you need an always-connected phone-and-laptop pair, choose a model whose two-source plan is explicitly documented.

Samsung U.S. support lists the earbuds, charging case, three sizes of eartips and wingtips, USB cable and Quick Start Guide as package contents. The manual says supplied items can vary by region, and it says charging adapters are sold separately. That historical family list cannot certify what a current used or open-box seller is actually shipping. Match the order code and inspect the real offer for two buds, a compatible case, the expected tips, a working battery and return/warranty terms.

Who should compare the earlier Galaxy Buds+?

The Cosmic Black SM-R175NZKAXAR is a source-documented comparison for someone who wants a canal-sealing tip, app-based ambient listening, ordinary SBC/AAC support and a Qi case, and who is willing to consider an earlier model. The strongest limitation is just as clear: it lacks ANC. It also has no confirmed IPX4-level earbud rating, the charger is separate, the current seller's box and battery are unknown, and its Samsung-account device convenience is not multipoint.

Read the same-condition comparison with earlier generation included, sealed fit, no ANC and wireless-case charging: open those exact finder choices. The finder means that a documented arrangement meets the recorded feature choices; it cannot establish fit, battery health, seller accuracy or compatibility with a particular host.

Bottom line: Galaxy Buds+ combines a sealed, wing-stabilized fit, Ambient Sound, Bluetooth codecs and Qi case charging, but it does not have active noise cancellation. The eleven-hour figure is general manufacturer-rated music time, not ANC performance, and the uncertain component scope of IPX2 should not be extended to the case or upgraded to IPX4. Treat it as an earlier-model reference and inspect the exact U.S. SKU, seller package, fit/return terms and real battery condition before considering an offer.

Primary evidence: Samsung's U.S. announcement and specification table, exact U.S. Cosmic Black and White product pages, Samsung U.S. support specifications, the SM-R175 manual, Samsung's Ambient Sound instructions and its explicit no-ANC support statement. Finish artwork comes from Samsung product pages for the same SM-R175 family in another region and is appearance-only; the exact U.S. color order codes are verified separately.
