Bose QuietComfort Earbuds (2024) + AirFly SE Set, Dewdrop Mint / White review

Current U.S. Bose set pairing Dewdrop Mint 2024 QuietComfort Earbuds with a White AirFly SE transmitter. The adapter adds a documented route from a standard 3.5 mm audio jack to one paired Bluetooth headphone set; the earbud family and its direct-Bluetooth codec evidence remain unchanged.

A useful fit for

A source-supported set for someone who expects to use a standard 3.5 mm audio output with these sealed ANC earbuds. Bose identifies a specific White AirFly SE transmitter alongside the 2024 QuietComfort Earbuds; the extra feature is a separate wired-source-to-Bluetooth route, not an earbud-generation change.

The main tradeoff

The fit and seal are personal and untested here. AirFly SE is limited to one headphone set, needs a compatible 3.5 mm source, and Bose says the adapter does not support telephony. Bose gives the QCE earbuds up to 8.5 hours in the owner guide but its current support specification says up to nine; AirFly SE has a separate 20/20+ hour claim. Do not add these separate component claims or transfer AirFly's transmitter codecs to the earbuds. The case is USB-C and wireless-charge capable but has no documented water rating; the earbuds alone are IPX4. The set page does not give one combined outer-carton checklist.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

What does the AirFly SE add to the 2024 QuietComfort Earbuds?

The captured SET-QCE-AFSE page identifies the Dewdrop Mint QCEARB24-HEADPHONEIN-DDPMNT-WW earbuds and a White AFSE-3_5MM-TRANSMITTER-WHT. The transmitter adds a documented 3.5 mm wired-source-to-Bluetooth route; it does not change the earbuds' fit, ANC or charging case.

Can AirFly SE share a wired source with two listeners or carry calls?

No. Twelve South describes AirFly SE as pairing to one headphone set at a time, and Bose states that AirFly does not support telephony. The QCE earbuds' direct-phone calling feature is a different connection; it does not change the transmitter's limitation.

Can I combine the battery numbers for the earbuds and AirFly?

No. Bose's 2024 owner guide says up to 8.5 hours for the earbuds in Quiet mode, while a current Bose support page says up to nine. Bose gives AirFly SE a separate 20-hour claim and Twelve South says 20+ hours. These are separate component maxima under different conditions, not a combined or measured session time.

Does Bose document which codec the earbuds negotiate through AirFly SE?

No codec is listed for the 2024 earbuds in the reviewed Bose specifications. Twelve South lists SBC and aptX as AirFly SE transmitter standards, but the reviewed sources do not establish the codec negotiated by this exact earbud/transmitter pair, so that capability remains unknown.

This is a source-based assessment of Bose's U.S. QuietComfort Earbuds + AirFly SE Set, not a listening test. Bose identifies set code SET-QCE-AFSE and, in the selected configuration captured for this review, Dewdrop Mint QuietComfort Earbuds sold from 2024 (QCEARB24-HEADPHONEIN-DDPMNT-WW) with a White AirFly SE (AFSE-3_5MM-TRANSMITTER-WHT). The useful difference is the included audio adapter. It is not a new earbud generation, a measured improvement in sound or a universal airplane-seat compatibility guarantee.

The set adds a route from a headphone jack

AirFly SE is a small battery-powered transmitter: it accepts audio from a standard 3.5 mm headphone output and sends it to a paired wireless headphone set. That can be useful when a seat-back screen, treadmill or other source has a headphone jack but no Bluetooth output. Bose describes the set for this kind of listening, and Twelve South lists AirFly SE for wired-source use. The QCE earbuds keep the same sealed fit, adjustable noise control, Bose QCE app and charging case documented for the 2024 model. If all your sources already play directly to Bluetooth, the transmitter may add little beyond another item to pack and charge.

Check the jack before counting on it

The documented input is a 3.5 mm audio jack. That does not establish that every aircraft seat, gym machine, hotel television or game device uses a compatible socket. Some travel systems use a different connector arrangement or need a separate adapter; the reviewed standard SET-QCE-AFSE details do not identify an airline adapter as part of the set. Check the actual source and connector before a trip. The AirFly's Bluetooth link is between the transmitter and earbuds; it is not direct Bluetooth from the seat display.

Twelve South's Bose-specific quick-start describes pairing AirFly SE with Bose earbuds through the earbud case's pairing control, while the exact QCE instructions should still be checked for the current model. I would treat pairing as a setup step to verify before relying on it during travel, rather than assume that a generic Bluetooth transmitter removes every host or connector complication.

AirFly SE is the one-listener option

AirFly SE is for one paired headphone set at a time. It is not the AirFly Pro 2's two-headphone sharing arrangement, and Twelve South distinguishes the Pro 2's additional receive mode from the simpler SE transmitter. Bose also says AirFly does not support telephony. That limitation belongs to the adapter route: Bose describes calls through the earbuds when they are connected directly to a smartphone, but that should not be mistaken for calls through AirFly SE from a wired audio jack. The earbuds' own two-device Bluetooth Multipoint feature is a separate arrangement again; it does not turn the SE into a two-listener transmitter.

Keep the battery claims separate

Bose gives AirFly SE a 20-hour battery-life claim; Twelve South phrases its claim as 20+ hours. The 2024 earbuds have a separate per-charge ANC music claim: Bose's owner guide says up to 8.5 hours in Quiet mode, while Bose's current support specification states up to nine hours. These are different components and source claims, not additive playtime or a test of the two pieces operating together. The QCE charging case accepts USB-C and compatible wireless charging; the transmitter has its own USB-C charging and battery. Plan to charge both, and do not infer remaining capacity from new-product maxima.

Fit, codecs and water limits still belong to the earbuds

The earbuds use a sealed in-ear tip and stability-band fit. A box of sizes cannot prove that an individual gets a comfortable seal or good noise cancellation, and no fit or cancellation test was performed for this review. Bose rates the earbuds IPX4, but that is not a rating for the case or AirFly SE. Keep the case dry and follow the exact product care guidance.

Bose's reviewed QCE 2024 specifications do not identify an audio codec for the earbuds. Twelve South lists SBC and aptX among AirFly SE transmitter standards, but those are not proof of the codec negotiated by this particular AirFly-to-QCE connection. The fact therefore leaves the earbud codec unknown instead of importing AirFly's values or another Bose generation's specifications. If a codec is a hard host-device requirement, this set is not a documented answer to it.

Confirm the complete offer, not just the title

Bose's product-set page identifies the selected earbud and transmitter components. Its earbud box list names the earbuds, charging case, cable, fit kit and safety sheet; the separate AirFly SE component page lists its own cable and documentation. The sources do not provide a single consolidated outer-carton inventory for every seller. Before buying a third-party or used offer, verify both component codes and the included accessories, check the seller's return and warranty terms, and make sure the selected color is the one pictured. The exact component artwork used here shows Dewdrop Mint earbuds and a separate White AirFly SE; it is not a package-completeness claim.

For the earbuds alone, compare the 2024 QuietComfort Earbuds assessment. If you specifically need two headphone sets from a wired source, compare the QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds (2nd Gen) + AirFly Pro 2 set assessment and verify that product's own limits; the Pro 2 bundle is not interchangeable with this SE bundle. Bose's U.S. set page, the AirFly SE component page, the QCE 2024 specifications and Twelve South's AirFly SE details support this component-level reading. This remains research-based guidance, not an ownership or performance claim.
