Your needs, this model

How do I distinguish the 2021 MagSafe Pro 1 case from the 2019 A2190 case?
Both case editions are model A2190 and use Lightning. Apple says the MagSafe-alignment edition was introduced in 2021 and its serial-number suffix ends 1059 or 1NRC; the 2019 Wireless Charging Case suffix ends 0C6L or LKKT. Confirm the serial or exact case version with the seller because the outside alone does not prove MagSafe alignment.

The earbud model and published listening claims are shared. The 2021 A2190 MagSafe edition adds magnetic alignment with compatible MagSafe chargers; the 2019 A2190 case is documented for Qi and Lightning without that alignment distinction. Both remain Lightning cases, and the 2021 version is not USB-C.
Explore this need in the finder →Is this MagSafe charging case water resistant?
Apple publishes IPX4 sweat and water resistance for the Pro 1 earbuds, but does not assign that rating to the charging case. The wireless case does not make the earbuds or package waterproof; dry the earbuds before placing them in the case and keep the charging case away from water.

Quick take
AirPods Pro 1 with the 2021 MagSafe Charging Case keep the original sealed, ANC-equipped earbuds but add a distinct charging arrangement: the case supports Qi, Lightning and magnetic alignment on a compatible MagSafe charger. It is still a Lightning case, not USB-C. Apple lists the case and earbuds as model A2190 and A2083/A2084 respectively, so verify the case's serial suffix to avoid confusing it with the 2019 Qi-only-alignment package. The published 4.5-hour ANC figure belongs to the earbuds and is unchanged by this case edition.
MagSafe means alignment, not a new earbud
Apple's October 2021 U.S. announcement changed the Pro bundle to include a MagSafe Charging Case. The support specification says this package works with MagSafe chargers, Qi-certified chargers and its Lightning connector; Apple's case-identification guide specifically describes magnetic alignment with a MagSafe-compatible charger. That alignment is the meaningful difference from the earlier Wireless Charging Case. Apple assigns both cases model number A2190, and their outside shape alone is not a reliable edition check.
Apple gives the 2021 MagSafe case serial suffixes 1059 or 1NRC; its 2019 Wireless Charging Case A2190 ends in 0C6L or LKKT. Check the serial on the actual offer, or ask the seller to demonstrate alignment on a compatible charger. Do not assume that “wireless case,” “MagSafe compatible” or a stock photo identifies the included case. The Pro 1 earbuds remain the same first-generation A2083/A2084 model in both bundles; the case distinction does not imply a different ANC system or longer earbud runtime.
Earbud fit still decides whether it suits you
The earbuds seal at the canal with silicone tips. Apple originally supplied three sizes and supports the Ear Tip Fit Test for AirPods Pro 1. It is a useful setup check, not proof that a shape will remain comfortable through a long session or stay secure during movement. A poor personal seal can also limit passive isolation and how useful ANC feels. If you prefer an open fit or cannot wear silicone tips, a case upgrade does not solve that wearing-style mismatch.
The official specification lists Active Noise Cancellation, Transparency mode, Adaptive EQ and Apple's H1 chip. ANC is an available operating mode; it is not an independent performance score. The sources do not establish the benefit for your ears, music, or environment, and no sample pair was tested for this review. Transparency mode and the physical fit remain separate considerations when deciding whether this older design fits a routine.
Battery and protection claims
Apple's technical page states up to 4.5 listening hours from one charge with ANC, up to five hours with ANC and Transparency off, and more than 24 hours of total listening with the MagSafe case. Five minutes in the case is listed as around one hour of listening. Apple does not describe the case total as a single uninterrupted ANC run. These are historical maximums under manufacturer conditions, not an estimate of how long a particular used battery lasts. A buyer should ask for return terms and a current charge/hold check instead of assuming the launch figure still applies.
The MagSafe case improves charging alignment, not water protection. Apple identifies IPX4 for the first-generation earbuds; its official material does not assign that rating to the case. Keep the case dry. Apple advises against swimming or showering, says resistance may decline over time and warns not to charge wet earbuds. A wireless charging mat is not a waterproof storage option.
Host compatibility and limits of the record
Bluetooth 5.0 is documented. The Apple material reviewed here does not name a universal Bluetooth codec set or confirm generic two-device multipoint, so those remain unknown. Apple's device ecosystem can add convenient setup and switching behavior, but host-specific automatic switching should not be confused with a claim of two simultaneous generic Bluetooth connections. Check the exact phone, operating system and controls you intend to use. Do not infer a codec from Apple Music, a service name or a test footnote.
Checks before considering this older package
Because the package and generation are old, inspect both sound and physical condition. Apple describes a limited service program for certain first-generation Pro units manufactured before October 2020, with eligibility restricted by the time since first retail sale. That history is relevant when asking about crackling, static or ANC behavior, but it is not a current blanket repair promise or a recall. Ask whether the pair was affected or serviced and whether the seller offers an actionable return window. Check battery behavior, hygiene, the included tip set and charging cable separately.
For exact identification, look for earbuds A2083/A2084 and case A2190, then confirm the 2021 MagSafe serial ending 1059 or 1NRC. The 2019 case ends 0C6L or LKKT; both have Lightning ports, so a connector check alone cannot settle the question. Apple’s current comparison lists newer Pro generations, not this as a current first-generation purchase. Do not read that page as evidence of present resale supply. This configuration is worth comparing only if the MagSafe alignment is useful and the seller can establish the exact case and condition. For the earlier case version, see the separate 2019 Qi Wireless Charging Case review. Open the same earlier, sealed, ANC finder conditions; a match means only that the documented arrangement fits the selected feature constraints.
