A useful fit for

A documented candidate for a sealed-tip fit with active cancellation, ambient listening, IPX4-rated earbud units and either SBC/AAC playback or a separate two-device multipoint connection. The manual lists three tip sizes; documents cannot establish an individual's seal, comfort or isolation.

The main tradeoff

Sony's maximum ANC-on music time differs by codec: up to 8 hours for SBC and 8.5 for AAC. Its guide's separate multipoint instructions do not substantiate an exact codec-plus-two-device runtime combination, so those are not merged into one finder arrangement. The case is not water resistant; keep it dry and verify the exact cable/tip package.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

How does the C710N's published music time change with its Bluetooth codec?

Sony's YY2986 guide lists maximum ANC-on music playback of 8 hours with SBC and 8.5 hours with AAC. Ambient Sound Mode is listed at 7.5 hours for SBC and 8 for AAC; with both features inactive, Sony lists 12 hours for either codec. Settings such as EQ, DSEE and Service Link can reduce those figures. Check your host's codec route and do not treat a manufacturer maximum as a guaranteed session length.

Can it stay connected to a phone and laptop at the same time?

Sony documents a multipoint connection to two Bluetooth devices, including one-device playback while the headset waits for phone calls from two smartphones. The guide describes how to switch which device is connected for audio; it does not mean two music streams mix together. This assessment keeps the documented two-device plan separate from codec-specific battery arrangements because the guide does not give a joint runtime for that exact combination.

What should I check about fit, water and the supplied kit?

Sony identifies a closed in-ear design and lists hybrid silicone tips in XS, M and XL sizes, with M attached. A listed size does not establish a personal seal or comfort. Sony rates the earbuds IPX4 but explicitly says the case is not water resistant; keep the sound outlets and charging parts dry and do not submerge the earbuds. Check that the exact Glass Blue WF-C710N/L offer includes the case, USB-A-to-USB-C cable, all three tip sizes and documents.

Sony’s Glass Blue WF-C710N/L is a conventional sealed in-ear earbud with active noise cancellation, an ambient listening mode and a charging case. Its practical distinction is not just that it has ANC: Sony documents different playback maxima for SBC and AAC, while multipoint is a separate connection feature whose combined runtime is not stated in the guide. This assessment uses Sony’s US listing, product specifications and YY2986 Help Guide. It does not include a personal fit trial, listening test or independent battery measurement.

A tip seal with two ways to manage the surroundings

Sony identifies the WF-C710N as a closed headphone type and supplies hybrid silicone tips. That puts it in a different wearing category from the open LinkBuds Clip and LinkBuds Open: the tip sits at the canal opening and can create a seal, while the open designs do not close the canal. Sony lists noise cancellation and Ambient Sound Mode, so the buyer can compare a sealed arrangement with a mode intended to pass outside sound through. The spec sheet’s feature list does not tell us how strong the ANC will seem in a particular room, nor whether one person will obtain a reliable seal.

The US package guide lists XS, M and XL tip pairs, with M attached at purchase. That is a shorter size range than the four-size kit supplied with some Sony models. If your ears often need a very small or large tip, verify that these three sizes are enough and use the seller’s return terms to check the fit in both ears. Sony’s closed-fit label is not a promise of comfort; a poor seal can also change how cancellation and bass are perceived.

Battery numbers are codec- and mode-specific

The YY2986 guide lists up to 8.5 hours of music playback with AAC and noise cancellation active, versus 8 hours with SBC. When Ambient Sound Mode is active, its maxima are 8 hours for AAC and 7.5 for SBC. With both cancellation and ambient mode inactive, Sony lists up to 12 hours for either codec. Those are manufacturer conditions, not a guaranteed listening session. Sony names Equalizer, DSEE and Service Link as app features that can shorten the available time. A five-minute charge is listed as enough for about an hour of playback.

The headphones support SBC and AAC over Classic Audio. Both are widely used routes, but the chosen codec depends on the host and its settings. Sony separately documents multipoint to two Bluetooth devices. That is useful when a phone and a computer both need to stay connected, but it does not mean both sources play at once. The manual does not provide one combined codec-plus-multipoint runtime table, so this review and finder keep the codec-specific playback plans separate from the two-device arrangement. That is a limit on what we assert, not a claim that the features cannot be combined.

Water, case and everyday checks

Sony rates the earbud units IPX4 and explicitly says the charging case is not water resistant. The manual explains that the rating concerns splash exposure, not immersion, and warns that the sound tubes, air holes and microphones are not completely watertight. Dry the earbuds before putting them in the case or charging them, and do not read “IPX4 earbuds” as an all-weather rating for the complete set.

The exact Glass Blue US page identifies the WF-C710NL listing, corresponding to the WF-C710N/L finish suffix. Sony’s category FAQ also names Black, Pink and White as family colors; these are separate retail finishes, not the blue image shown here. The Help Guide package list includes the charging case, USB-A-to-USB-C cable, three tip sizes and documents. The US spec sheet puts each bud at about 0.16 ounces but does not provide a case weight in the fields checked here, so no case-weight comparison is offered.

Who should compare this configuration?

The C710N belongs on a shortlist when sealed tips, documented ANC, ambient listening and two-device Bluetooth multipoint are all relevant. Its official guide supports a more nuanced runtime comparison than a single headline maximum: AAC reaches the longest ANC-on figure, while the SBC result is half an hour lower. If you need open-ear awareness, want no ANC, or require a special codec such as LDAC or LC3, this is not the matching configuration. The less expensive WF-C510 is the family contrast for a sealed fit without active cancellation; it retains ambient sound and multipoint but has different codec-specific battery numbers.

Before buying, match the Glass Blue WF-C710N/L suffix, confirm the three tip sizes and cable in the offer, check your phone or computer’s AAC/SBC behavior, and keep the case dry. Sony claims up to 30 combined hours with cancellation on across earbud and case charges, but the precise practical result depends on use and settings. Consider that total separately from the single-charge operating-time table.

Other documented finishes

The reviewed lead image is Glass Blue WF-C710N/L. Sony lists Black, White and Pink under separate suffixes in the same WF-C710N family; the images below show those finishes only. Sony identifies the Pink listing as WF-C710N/P. Finish photographs are visual references, not evidence of different features or operating behavior. The Pink image shows the earbuds, not their charging case or a retail package.

Exact identity pages: Sony's US Black, White, and Pink listings name the model finishes. The matching Target US Pink listing also names WF-C710N/P. The visual captions identify retailer-sourced appearance images; the family Help Guide and specifications remain the basis for the operating assessment.
