A useful fit for

A documented sealed-tip gaming configuration for comparing ANC, a dedicated low-latency 2.4GHz USB route to PC/PS5/compatible USB-C devices, and a separate LC3 LE Audio route on compatible hosts. Its included YY2980 transceiver is central to its main use; the US manual documents four tip sizes.

The main tradeoff

INZONE Buds support only LC3 over Bluetooth LE Audio, not Classic Audio SBC/AAC/aptX/LDAC; Sony says LE Audio is not compatible with iPhone/iPad. USB-transceiver runtime is documented for game-and-chat use, not continuous music, so it is not counted toward a music-runtime filter. LE Audio runtime and two-device pairing are separate; only one paired device can play at a time.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Will the INZONE Buds work with my gaming host or phone?

Sony documents a 2.4GHz connection through the supplied USB-C transceiver to a computer, PS5, or USB-C-compatible smartphone; its slide switch must be set to PC or PS5/MOBILE. Bluetooth is a separate LE Audio route that requires a compatible LC3 host. Sony's product information says LE Audio does not work with iPhone or iPad, and the manual directs a non-LE-Audio phone to use the supplied USB transceiver. Check the host port, mode switch, and current compatibility list before buying.

Which published battery time applies if I need ANC?

Sony's guide separates the routes. For USB-transceiver game-and-chat use, it lists up to 11 hours with noise cancellation on and 12 with it off; that is not a music-playback figure. For Bluetooth LE Audio LC3 music, the manual lists up to 18 hours with ANC on and 24 with ANC off. Settings, use and environment can reduce these manufacturer maxima. The matcher only uses the LC3 18-hour music plan for a minimum-ANC-music requirement.

What exact adapter and tip kit should be in the Black box?

The YY2977 guide lists a charging case, USB-A-to-USB-C cable, USB-C transceiver model YY2980, hybrid silicone rubber tips in SS, S, M and LL (two each; M attached) and documents. Verify the transceiver is included and matches the YY2980 identity if a listing is open-box or incomplete; a standard Bluetooth-only replacement does not reproduce the dedicated 2.4GHz route. Sony rates the earbuds IPX4-equivalent but says the case is not water resistant.

Sony’s Black INZONE Buds WF-G700N/B are gaming earbuds with two distinct wireless routes: a dedicated 2.4GHz USB-C transceiver, or Bluetooth LE Audio using LC3. They are not ordinary multipurpose Bluetooth earbuds with a hidden gaming mode. Sony’s help guide says Classic Audio codecs such as SBC and AAC are not supported; the manual lists LC3 for LE Audio and separately explains how to use the supplied transceiver with a PC, PS5 or compatible USB-C smartphone. This assessment follows those source distinctions and makes no claim of personal gameplay, latency testing or wear testing.

The supplied transceiver is part of the purchase decision

For a PC, Sony instructs users to set the USB-C transceiver’s slide switch to PC; for a PS5 or USB-C-compatible smartphone, the setting is PS5/MOBILE. That 2.4GHz route is the intended dedicated gaming connection. Sony describes it as low latency, but this review does not treat the manufacturer’s claim as a test result or promise of zero delay. Check your system’s USB ports and the exact setup directions before assuming a console or phone supports the connection.

The second route is Bluetooth LE Audio, which uses LC3. The help guide says a phone must support LE Audio and directs a non-compatible phone to the USB transceiver instead. Sony says the LC3 connection is not compatible with iPhone and iPad. This is a major buying check: a familiar SBC/AAC phone connection is not available, and the model is not a drop-in Bluetooth earbud for every host. Sony’s guide says the headset can pair with multiple devices but can play music from only one paired device at a time. It also explicitly says it cannot play audio from a Bluetooth-connected device and the USB transceiver-connected device simultaneously.

Two battery tables, two different activities

Sony’s YY2977 guide lists up to 11 hours with noise cancellation on and 12 hours with it off for USB-transceiver game-and-chat use. Those are gaming headset figures, not continuous music-playback figures, so they are not used as music runtime in the finder. For Bluetooth LE Audio music playback, Sony lists up to 18 hours with ANC on and 24 hours with ANC off using LC3. Its US specification separately lists up to 48 hours for buds plus case on LE Audio with ANC off; it does not present that as the ANC-on music total. A five-minute charge is listed for about an hour of use. These maxima describe different connection modes and activities; combining them into one battery claim would blur the distinction that matters most to a buyer.

Noise cancellation and Ambient Sound Mode are both documented, but a passive fit still matters. Sony describes a sealed earbud tip and says to twist the headset to place the tip deeper in the canal. The US kit includes SS, S, M and LL tip pairs, two of each, with M attached. The source does not establish whether a particular ear will seal well or remain comfortable during a long gaming session, so consider the return terms and tip completeness.

What to verify before choosing it

The model manual identifies the USB-C transceiver as YY2980 and lists it, the charging case, USB-A-to-USB-C charging cable, four tip sizes and documents as supplied items. The adapter is not an optional detail if you expect to use the dedicated 2.4GHz route. For open-box or replacement purchases, verify the exact transceiver model and that it is present; a Bluetooth-only accessory cannot take its place. Also check that the host can use the correct physical connector or an appropriate supported adapter, and follow the current Sony instruction for the slide switch.

The earbuds are rated IPX4-equivalent, while the case and transceiver have separate moisture precautions. Do not infer that the complete kit is waterproof or safe for immersion. Sony’s guide provides specific steps for drying wet components before returning them to the case. The support specification lists each black earbud at approximately 0.23 ounces; Sony gives a different figure for the Glass Purple finish, so this Black review does not extend its weight figure to every color.

Who should compare this configuration?

The INZONE Buds make most sense to compare when a gaming host, the included transceiver, the USB port and a sealed tip fit are part of the same plan. They are a poor default choice for someone who expects conventional Bluetooth audio from an iPhone, needs Classic Audio codec support, or wants two simultaneous source connections. LC3 should not be read as a universal Bluetooth compatibility badge: the host must support LE Audio, and Sony’s compatibility conditions matter.

For a PC or PS5 player, inspect the exact Black WF-G700N/B listing, confirm the YY2980 transceiver and cable are in the box, and review the latest INZONE Hub setup information. For phone use, distinguish a compatible USB-C transceiver route from Bluetooth LE Audio and confirm which mode your device actually supports. The kit’s separate 2.4GHz and LC3 battery estimates are useful only when matched to the mode and activity you intend to use. The Black listing’s image shows the earbuds, not the complete retail package.

Other documented finishes

Sony’s US pages identify White WF-G700N/W and Glass Purple WF-G700N/V as finishes of the INZONE Buds family. The matched retailer images below show the earbuds only; they do not establish the transceiver, case, tips or any other package contents. They are visual finish references, not evidence of performance differences. The Black-specific earbud weight stated above is not applied to these other finishes.

For exact identity, Sony’s US listings name the White WF-G700N/W and Glass Purple WF-G700N/V finishes. The appearance images come from matching US retail listings for White and Glass Purple.
