Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Does CX Plus True Wireless suit a sealed ANC routine when older models are allowed?
Sennheiser's U.S. page identifies the standard CX Plus True Wireless in Black article 509188 and White article 509189, and marks the product end of life. The shared manual describes a sealed ear-canal fit, active ANC, Transparent Hearing and four silicone tip sizes. Fit remains individual, and the documented IPX4 mark applies to the earbuds rather than the case. Confirm that the exact package has the case and tip sizes you need.
Explore this need in the finder →Does its published battery figure meet an ANC-on minimum?
No published ANC-on duration was found in the checked manual. Its 8-hour earbud and 24-hour case-total example specifies AAC, an iPhone within 1 m, volume at 50%, Transparency off, ANC off and no EQ. That number cannot establish a positive minimum ANC runtime. Battery condition on an individual end-of-life unit is also unknown.
Explore this need in the finder →Can CX Plus stay connected to a phone and computer at the same time?
No. Sennheiser says the earbuds can remember six paired Bluetooth devices, but only one connected source can play at a time; its FAQ explicitly distinguishes that from Multipoint. The same FAQ says either side can be used individually, which is not a two-source connection. Choose a different reviewed model if simultaneous phone-and-computer connections are essential.
Explore this need in the finder →What are the confirmed case charging and water limits?
The family manual lists USB-C charging for the case, and the official FAQ says the case does not support wireless charging. IPX4 is an earbud rating only; the case is not splash resistant, and wet earbuds should be dried before they are returned to it. The manual's original package list names a case and XS/S/M/L tips, but verify these pieces on any individual earlier-model listing.
Explore this need in the finder →Identify the exact CX Plus version first
Sennheiser's U.S. page identifies the standard CX Plus True Wireless in Black as article 509188 and White as article 509189. The manufacturer labels the family end of life, which is a lifecycle statement—not proof about stock, seller condition, warranty or listing contents.
Do not merge it with the similar-sounding CX Plus SE True Wireless, article 509247, or the older CX True Wireless, article 508973. The SE launch note describes a Special Design Edition with a brushed-matte finish; the CX Plus family manual lists both CX Plus and CX Plus SE in the same model family. The evidence checked here supports shared core operating details, not a separate acoustic advantage for the suffix. The Black and White standard images show the earbuds in their matching case, but do not verify a seller's package, condition or battery state.
This is a research-based assessment of Sennheiser's U.S. product page, model manual and official FAQ. The earbuds were not used or tested for this review, and no listening, fit, battery or microphone measurement is claimed.
Sealed fit, ANC and transparency are three separate considerations
The manual describes an ear-canal fit and four silicone adapter sizes—XS, S, M and L. Correctly sized tips can help create the seal needed for passive isolation and ANC, but four sizes do not promise comfort, retention or a good seal for every ear. If fit is uncertain, check the seller's trial and return terms rather than treating an ergonomic claim as a personal fit test.
Active noise cancellation and Transparent Hearing make this a more adjustable listening arrangement than a no-ANC sealed model. The latter mode is intended to bring outside sound into the listening experience without removing the earbuds; it is not the same as an open-ear design, and it cannot guarantee that a person will notice every warning or conversation.
The eight-hour figure is not an ANC runtime
Sennheiser's manual lists up to eight hours from an earbud charge and up to 24 hours with the case, but its condition line matters: AAC from an iPhone within one metre, volume at 50%, Transparency Mode off, ANC off and no equalizer settings. The checked manual does not state a separate music runtime with ANC enabled. It would be misleading to use the eight-hour number as evidence that the CX Plus meets a one-hour—or any other—minimum ANC-on requirement.
These are manufacturer maxima, not results measured by this review. Runtime can vary with volume, host, connection, features and settings, while an older unit's remaining capacity cannot be inferred from its original specification. Because the U.S. product is end of life, ask about the exact unit's charging behavior and battery condition and check the return terms before relying on it for a long commute.
Codec support does not create multipoint
The manual lists Bluetooth 5.2 and SBC, AAC, aptX and aptX Adaptive. A source phone or computer must also support the codec and negotiate it in the current app and connection mode. The list is a set of possible Bluetooth audio routes, not a promise that every host will use aptX Adaptive or sound better to every listener. If you have a particular codec requirement, check the transmitting device and its settings rather than relying on the earbud specification alone.
Sennheiser says CX Plus can remember up to six paired devices, but the FAQ is explicit that it can be connected to only one source at a time for playback. Remembered devices are not simultaneous Multipoint connections. Switching between a phone and a laptop therefore requires managing the active Bluetooth connection rather than expecting audio to move automatically. The FAQ separately allows either the left or right earbud to be used alone; that is useful flexibility for one-sided listening, not a way to connect two source devices at once.
USB-C charges the case; IPX4 applies to the earbuds
The family manual documents USB-C charging for the charging case, while the official FAQ says the case does not support wireless charging. Sennheiser's water guidance limits IPX4 splash resistance to the earbuds and says the case is not splash resistant. Do not extend the earbud rating to the case, submerge the set, or dock wet earbuds. If the buds get wet, the FAQ advises drying them before putting them back in the case.
The maker's original package list names both earbuds, the CXPLUSTW1 C charging case, a short USB-C-to-USB-A cable, silicone adapters in XS/S/M/L and printed guides. That list describes the manufacturer's package, not the condition or contents of an individual resale offer. Confirm that the right case is present, both earbuds charge and pair, the case accepts USB-C power and the tips you need are included. The FAQ also says the batteries cannot be exchanged, which makes the remaining capacity of an older set especially important to verify.
Where CX Plus fits—and where it does not
The standard CX Plus is worth identifying if you want a sealed tip, ANC and transparency, support for common Classic Audio codecs, and a compact case that charges by USB-C rather than wirelessly. Its Black and White articles share the same documented operation; color alone is not a reason to expect different codec, ANC, runtime or water behavior. The separate CX Plus SE is also a distinct U.S. article and finish edition, not a substitute retail identity just because its family manual overlaps.
Look elsewhere if two simultaneous device connections, Qi charging, a water-rated case or a documented minimum ANC listening duration is essential. The standard model's fit and ANC are still dependent on your ears and settings, and its manufacturer runtime example is ANC-off. Check the exact article number—509188 for Black or 509189 for White—plus the case, tips, charging function, seller condition, battery claim, warranty and return terms. No present-day price, stock, seller, package, customer experience or independent performance result is assessed here.
