A useful fit for

A current sealed in-ear option for someone who wants active noise cancellation, a long published ANC-playback maximum, a wirelessly chargeable case and Apple-dependent workout features. The included five tip sizes and seal test offer practical fit checks, but cannot guarantee an individual fit.

The main tradeoff

AirPods Pro 3 require the right sealed tip fit for comfort, passive isolation and sensor contact; important features work best with compatible Apple hardware and current software. Apple's 8-hour ANC and 24-hour case-total figures are maximum claims, not independent measurements, and IP57 is not permission to swim or shower.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

How can I tell whether AirPods Pro 3 fit correctly?

Apple includes five tip sizes, from XXS to L, and recommends checking comfort and seal rather than assuming the preinstalled medium tip fits everyone. Its iPhone or iPad fit test can check the acoustic seal; Pro 3 also needs good skin contact for heart-rate readings. No individual fit trial was performed for this assessment.

What is the published battery life with ANC?

Apple lists up to eight listening hours per earbud charge with ANC enabled, 7.5 hours with Spatial Audio and head tracking, and up to 24 hours with ANC using the case. It lists different maxima for workout heart-rate sensing and Hearing Aid use. These are Apple test claims; settings, host, environment and use affect results.

Can I use the case wirelessly and wear it for exercise?

Apple identifies case A3122 as USB-C, MagSafe, Apple Watch and Qi-chargeable, with a Find My speaker. The earbuds and case have an IP57 rating for dust, sweat and water resistance, but Apple says they are not waterproof and are not designed for swimming or showering. Dry them before charging.

Quick take

AirPods Pro 3 are a sealed, tip-based pair for listeners who want Apple’s current in-ear ANC feature set, a case that can charge over USB-C or wirelessly, and workout-oriented extras. The strongest measurable reason to choose this edition over the preceding Pro 2 is the manufacturer’s published runtime: Apple lists up to eight hours with ANC on per charge and up to 24 hours with ANC using the case. Apple also gives Pro 3 its own heart-rate sensor and five tip sizes. Those are useful distinctions, not proof that the fit, cancellation, call quality or battery life will suit a particular person. This is a source-based assessment; no hands-on listening or laboratory test was performed.

Start with the fit, not the feature list

This is an in-ear design with an ear tip that enters the canal and needs an acoustic seal. Apple supplies XXS, XS, S, M and L sizes, including an extra-small option that was not in the Pro 2’s four-size XS-to-L package. Its current fit guide recommends checking comfort, trying a different size when a tip feels loose or compressive, and using the iPhone or iPad seal test. That guidance matters to both passive isolation and ANC: an electronic mode cannot compensate for a persistent gap around the tip. Heart-rate sensing adds a separate fit consideration because the sensor needs skin contact; the best size for acoustic seal may not be the best size for sensor contact. Neither the guide nor Apple's fit claims establish comfort for an individual ear.

For shoppers who do not want a tip in the ear canal, these are the wrong form factor. Their isolation and ANC depend on a good seal, and some people may prefer an open design that keeps more ambient sound audible. If fit is uncertain, check return terms and test the supplied tips rather than relying on the “Pro” name or size labels alone.

Noise control, calls and Apple-dependent features

Apple lists Active Noise Cancellation, Transparency, Adaptive Audio, Conversation Awareness, Voice Isolation and Personalized Spatial Audio with head tracking. The company’s launch material described a redesigned acoustic architecture and compared its ANC with earlier models; those are manufacturer claims, not measurements made for this assessment. A sensible comparison focuses first on whether a sealed tip is acceptable and then on which modes are useful. Transparency and ANC serve different situations, while the heart-rate sensor and Translation functions depend on compatible Apple hardware, software, language and region.

The specifications list Bluetooth 5.3 and say AirPods can work as Bluetooth headphones with non-Apple devices, though functionality may be limited. They do not identify a codec or confirm two simultaneous Bluetooth source connections. Apple-account device switching is not the same requirement as generic multipoint, so a buyer who needs a specific codec, Windows/Linux feature or two-source connection should verify it on the intended host rather than assume it from the ecosystem branding.

Battery claims and the case

Apple lists up to eight hours of ANC listening from one charge, up to 7.5 hours with Spatial Audio and head tracking, up to 6.5 hours with workout heart-rate sensing, and up to 10 hours in Transparency while using the Hearing Aid feature. These are separate modes, not numbers to add together. Apple also publishes up to 24 hours with ANC and the case. The cited tests use Apple hardware/software and stated listening conditions; settings, environment and use can reduce results. There is no independent runtime measurement here.

The white package includes the MagSafe Charging Case (USB-C), identified by Apple as model A3122, five tip sizes and documentation. The case supports USB-C, MagSafe, Qi and Apple Watch charging, and has a speaker for Find My and a lanyard loop. Apple says the cable and power adapter are not in the box, so check what a seller actually supplies rather than assume a cable is included. Apple’s model-identification page is useful when matching the earbuds and case in an offer.

Water rating and ownership checks

Apple rates both Pro 3 earbuds and their case IP57. Its support page explains the rating’s test context and says the products are not waterproof, are not designed for swimming or showering, and should be wiped dry before charging after a workout or splash. Resistance can decline with wear. Treat IP57 as a limited protection specification, not a permission to submerge the case or to charge it wet.

The fixed white design also means the retail identity is less about color and more about generation, exact earbud identifiers and case. Apple lists model numbers A3063, A3064 and A3065 for the earbuds and A3122 for the case. Verify the listing says Pro 3, includes that case and has a compatible device for the features you care about. Apple's current US buy page documents the package, but a seller's title or an old listing is not independent proof of what will arrive.

Where Pro 3 fits against Pro 2

The prior Pro 2 generation remains relevant when a verified package is substantially different for your setup. Its USB-C case package has a published six-hour ANC maximum, IP54 protection for earbuds and case, and a host-specific Lossless Audio mode with Apple Vision Pro. The earlier Lightning-case Pro 2 package instead uses case A2700 and is IPX4 for buds and case. Pro 3 raises Apple's published ANC figure to eight hours and is rated IP57, while adding the workout heart-rate sensor and an XXS tip. Those are documented differences; they do not establish how much better one will sound, fit or cancel noise in real use.

For a current-generation sealed ANC option with a wirelessly chargeable USB-C case, Pro 3 is the clearest Apple fit in this reviewed set. Skip it if you require an unverified codec or multipoint arrangement, dislike canal tips, or need a guarantee of sweatproofing. Recheck model numbers, compatibility, return rights and exact package contents before ordering.
